    It’s always a little scary, riding the Tube. “I’ve ridden the Tube twice before,” I tell the woman sitting next to me. She doesn’t say anything. Her knuckles are white and her teeth are clenched.     You already know plenty about computers. Computers are becoming an omnipresent part of our lives. Almost 50 jobs today, in the US alone, involve computers in some way. Why, nowadays, some of them are small enough to fit in a regulation-sized garage. But let's take a look at the future, shall we? The computer of the future will be a disgusting thing; a semen and mucous-covered slab of grey metal with a hinge in the middle, like a book or magazine. No pages inside, though. There will be, instead, on one side, a screen, like on your television set. But there'll be no room for a cathode ray. The whole affair is roughly the width of an encycl
